Spring One Room Challenge Week 3- Pillow Talk

It’s week three of the One Room Challenge and I feel like I’m finally making some progress! Paint is going up in the room, lots of accessory shopping took place, and lots of goodies are arriving in the mail!  This is the part of the One Room Challenge that always feels like Christmas to me.  ‘‘Twas the night before reveal day and all through the room.... (except I will be scurrying like a mouse to get it all done)! You get the idea!

So let’s talk about why I’m feeling super festive this week! Although it’s not finished, there’s enough for us to see the overall look of the new paint color. We went with Sherwin Williams Silver Strand and when this color first started going on the wall I had a bit of panic because it looked pretty baby blue. The color is a light gray but with a blue-green quality about it. If you read last weeks blog, you know my house is new, but has both off-white trim and ceilings. I don’t love it but right now with a new baby, the idea of redoing all the trim work and ceilings is too much, so I have been forced with the tricky job of picking colors that work with the creamy tone. After my initial panic about the color I decided to finish an entire wall before I truly freaked out and I’m glad it did, I think the paint was reacting to the original khaki colored walls and as a result looking more blue than it really is. Here’s how it looks now.

Also, I was dying to see if my vision for the room was really working and so I had to hang the drapery.  Initially, I planned for a more colorful panel but at the last minute ordered these beauties from Anthropologie instead. These panels actually have loops on the bottom and top so you can orient the pattern of the stripes how you want (so clever)! I like the lightness these bring and their more clean look since other areas of the room are pattern filled. The rods are part of the Pottery Barn Essentials collection. I love their French simplicity and that they are sturdy enough to survive pulls from little hands!

So last week I promised you a Pillow Par-tay and it’s definitely feeling fun over here with the arrival of some goodness from Anthropologie, Tonic Living, Grandin Road, and Target’s new Opal House collection! Side note: if you haven’t checked out Opal House for Target you’re missing out on some adorable boho style finds. I scored lots of other goodies for the room from this collection I’ll show you soon!  I’m still waiting on one more pillow from Justina Blakeney and I think its going to be a stunner! I cannot wait!

So next week is going to be the week guys! The week my gorgeous Anthropologie rug arrives that was the color inspiration for the whole room! I’m nervous and totally excited and I’ll probably be laying on it making the equivalent of snow angels come this time next week! Until then, head on over to the One Room Challenge site and see all the other exciting rooms take place! I cannot wait for all the reveals of these spaces! To say I’m excited is an understatement!

See you next week,

Mallory
